Research

Research at the Chair of Production Systems and Automation focuses on production systems and their design and control. The emphasis is on viewing the production system as a holistic, socio-technical system covering the entire automation pyramid and as a system of systems.
Our work is driven in particular by the growing challenges posed by advancing digitalisation, end-to-end life cycle design, sustainability and the adaptability of production systems against a backdrop of increasing complexity and dynamism.
We are active in both basic and applied research and think ahead to future problems and solutions. In our research projects, we apply existing knowledge and advise companies on their path to Industry 4.0.
